MANILA, Philippines – The country’s only all-steel church of San Sebastian in Quiapo, Manila will accommodate selected students for a free in-house guided tour of the renowned Minor Basilica.
In a statement posted in the San Sebastian Basilica Conservation and Development Foundation, Inc. Facebook page, the organizers said that it is a part of the celebration of Buwan ng Wika.
“Pagyamanin ang kaalaman sa kasaysayan at kulturang Pilipino (Nurture the knowledge about Filipino history and culture),” the post stated.
The free admission for the tour are for students taking up History, Filipino and Philippine Studies. In the guidelines posted, those interested need to present their student ID where their courses can be verified.
The free tour is until the last day of August.
The San Sebastian Church was completed in 1891 and is noted for its unique architectural features. In 1971, it was marked by the Philippine government as a Historical Landmark.
Earlier, the church had undergone conservation work.
