Jake Zyrus debuts on concert stage

After performing alongside Boyband PH, Sam Concepcion, and a dozen more artists in a benefit concert for the victims of the ongoing Marawi siege, Jake Zyrus will be holding his first solo concert since casting out his former identity as Charice. The gig will be held at Music Museum on Oct. 6 and will feature songs from his upcoming album.

It has been a month since Jake Zyrus changed the username of his social media accounts to fit his new identity as a transgender male. He credits his fans and music for giving him the strength to make the transition.

“I am so excited about this concert because I will be able to finally express my real self. Another thing that excites me is the kind of music I will be performing,” says Jake.

Jake Zyrus, formerly known as Charice, is ready to take his new brand of music to another level

Joining Jake in the concert as his musical director is Troy Laureta, a Filipino-American musical director, keyboardist and record producer who’s worked with international artists such as David Foster, Ariana Grande and Iggy Azalea.

“This concert will also be ‘perfect’ for those who want to ‘celebrate themselves,’” says Jake whose story has recently been featured on USA Today and Forbes.

The concert, billed as “I Am Jake Zyrus,” will showcase songs he’s been longing to perform on stage. Among the songs that he will perform is “Hiling,” a cover of the Jay-R Siaboc song of the same name. The track is also the lead single for his forthcoming album.
