The widow of slain Trece Martires Vice Mayor Alex Lubigan said her husband was looking for bulletproof vests and guns days before he was allegedly killed by the town’s mayor on July 7.
Gemma Lubigan said she has no idea if her husband received any death threats before he was shot as he is secretive and did not discuss sensitive matters with his family.
The widow said that when she heard that her husband had been shot, she had a hunch who was behind the crime.
Trece Martires City Mayor Melandres de Sagun is the one behind Lubigan’s death,
“When I heard the gunshot and I saw him, the first thing I thought is was either Mayor Melandres de Sagun or his son [former mayor Jun de Sagun],” Gemma said.
The Philippine National Police have filed with the Department of Justice in Manila, two counts of murder and frustrated murder against De Sagun, Ariel Paiton, Luis Abad, Maragondon councilor Umbe Arca, and a John Doe.
De Sagun is currently in the US while the other suspects are at large. ROY NARRA
