A drug suspect was killed, six more were arrested and another P13.6 million worth of suspected shabu was seized when authorities conducted a buy-bust operation in Sulu on Friday, the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency reported.
Suspect Mirajuli Manglawi was killed when he shot it out with operatives, according to a report from the PDEA-Bangsamoro.
Arrested were Ajing Abdula Samad, Abdu Haran Nungi, Eyan Dugasan, Caesar Eran Aradais, Dugasan Istuala, and Mursidin Jalling.
Agents of PDEA-Bangsamoro, backed by different police and military units, carried out the operation in Parang town around 9:30 a.m.
The suspects tried to escape onboard motorized bancas, but were cornered by different government forces who joined the operation, the report said.
Confiscated were about 2 kilograms of suspected shabu, the buy-bust money, and a cellphone.
Charges for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Law are being prepared against the arrested suspects, who are being held at the Parang Police Station.
Friday’s operation came just three days after agents of PDEA and other law enforcement units seized a similar quantity of shabu and arrested one person in a separate sting in Brgy. Buanza, Indanan, last Tuesday.
“We owe the success of these series of successful operations to the healthy working relationship of government forces here in Sulu. This is a result of effective intelligence sharing and interoperability capabilities,” said Gilbert Buenafe, PDEA-Bangsamoro director.
