2 dead in Black Saturday head-on collision in Quezon

CALAUAG, Quezon – A 34-year-old driver and his companion were killed when their vehicle collided head-on with a passenger bus on the Maharlika Highway in Barangay Madlandungan, this town, on Black Saturday.

Police identified one of the fatalities as James, married, of Makati City. His companion was unidentified.

Lawmen said the Toyota Vios with license plates DBO-7650 driven by James allegedly swerved to the lane of the DLTB passenger bus driven by Boyet, 44, resulting in a head-on collision.

The victims were taken to the hospital where they were declared dead.

Nobody among the bus crew and passengers were injured.

Recovered from the victims’ vehicle were a caliber .9mm pistol, eight passports, and P9,120 cash.

The case was amicably settled, police said.

Housewife, son killed in crash

DOLORES, Quezon – A 26-year-old housewife and her five-year-old son were killed and two others were injured after their motorcycle rammed into a concrete post in Barangay Putol, this town, on Black Saturday.

Police identified the victims as Ann and her son CJ.

Injured were her sister Riza, 45, and Joseph, 33, a truck helper.

Investigation said Ann lost control of their motorcycle on a curved road and accidentally struck a concrete post.

The mother and son were taken to a hospital in San Pablo City, Laguna, where they were declared dead.

Her companions sustained minor injuries.
