3 months worth of bank statement waived in new Korean visa guideline

MANILA, Philippines — The Korean Visa Application Center in the Philippines has announced new revisions on required supporting documents, including the waiver of three months' worth of bank statements.

The center on Thursday posted on Facebook the set of changes taking effect on Thursday, February 20.

“For all types of required documents, the submission of ‘three (3) months of bank statements’ will be waived,” the center announced.

Student applicants are reminded that their proof of student status requirement will be changed from “Original School Certificate and copy of Student ID” to “either the original School Certificate or a copy of the Student ID” (the applicant may choose and submit one).

For cases with multiple applicants, common documents (e.g., invitation letter, family relationship documents, company-related documents, etc.) are asked to be submitted in one (1) copy only and attached to the representative applicant’s file.

For employment-related documents, the submission of an explanation letter will be waived in cases where there is no landline number indicated, or when it is issued with an electronic signature. As long as other reachable contact information (email address or mobile phone number) is provided, the document will be accepted.

The center said that these changes or revisions are implemented to enhance convenience for visa applicants and promote visits to South Korea.

The Korean Visa Application Center formally opened its office in Taguig in August 2023 during the Visit Korea Year that celebrated the 75 years of diplomatic relations between the Philippines and South Korea.
