MANILA, Philippines – Dondon Nakar, a matinee idol in the 1970s, died on November 1, his family announced. He was 66.
Born Guillermo Nakar III, the late personality’s family said that he “passed away unexpectedly” after suffering a cardiac arrest.
“The family is saddened by the loss but also rejoices that Dondon is now with the Lord,” his family’s statement read.
According to a report by Manila Bulletin, his remains will be at Mt. Carmel Church in New Manila, Quezon City, from November 5 to 6, from 2 to 9 pm.
Nakar was a singer and actor who rose to prominence in the ’70s. Throughout his career, he has starred in films like Ang Babaeng Hinugot Sa Aking Tadyang, Ang Barbaro at si Genghis Khan, Binhi, and Darna and the Giants.
In the last film, he played Ding, alongside Vilma Santos, who played the titular role of Darna.
Alongside Arnold Gamboa, Winnie Santos, and Maribel Aunor, he also appeared on the music variety show Apat na Sikat, which aired for five years until 1981. – Rappler.com
