MARIVELES, BATAAN–More hospitals will rise in this highly industrial town to boost further government efforts to contain coronavirus.
Aside from the existing general and district hospitals here, the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) is currently constructing a one-unit modular hospital within the Mariveles Mental Wellness and General Hospital compound in Bataan.
The statement said the P23.85-million facility being set up is in line with DPWH’s effort to increase the number of Covid 19-dedicated hospital beds in Central Luzon.
“In July, health experts tagged the municipality of Mariveles as ‘very high risk’ for Covid-19 due to the continued rise in daily average cases, and the DPWH saw the urgent need for additional health facilities in the area,” Bataan 2nd District Engineer Ulysses Llado said.
The 22-bed capacity modular hospital is expected to be completed by November this year.
Apart from the modular hospital at MMWGH, the Bataan 2nd District Engineering Office also proposed to build similar structures at Mariveles District Hospital, Bataan General Hospital and Medical Center, and Dangcol in Balanga City.
