MANILA, Philippines – Already the winningest country in WPA Women’s World 10-Ball Championship, the Philippines is set to win a record-extending fourth title.
Rubilen Amit and Chezka Centeno arranged an all-Filipina final on Sunday, October 12, as they emerged as the last two women standing in the 64-player tournament in Bali, Indonesia.
Amit advanced to the championship match unbeaten following a 4-1, 4-0, 2-4, 4-0 win over Margarita Fefilova of Belarus in the semifinals to get a crack at her third title after ruling the inaugural edition in 2009 and repeating in 2013.
Meanwhile, Centeno claimed a 4-3, 4-3, 4-3 victory over China’s Liu Shasha as she reached the final from the losers’ bracket, thus setting up a battle of former champions with Amit.
Centeno also lifted the 2023 crown when she beat Chinese star Han Yu, and came close to defending her throne in 2024 but got the boot in the semifinals.
The final is scheduled at 7 pm on Sunday (Manila time). – Rappler.com
