MANILA, Philippines — On-and-off-screen couple Kim Molina and Jerald Napoles found themselves on the hot seat anew when asked if they have plans of getting married and having a baby after seven years of being in a relationship.
“Malalaman yan pagdating ng panahon (laughs),” Jerald replied when the topic about tying the knot was raised during the recent digital media conference for their new movie Ikaw At Ako At Ang Ending.
They were also asked if there is a possibility to have a baby first before marriage. Kim said work is their priority as of the moment. “It’s a very difficult question but since we are an open book, hindi po namin alam din. We don’t know yet.
“We’re both at the right age but at the same time, we know our priorities. We know that we still need to work and we need to focus on our careers,” she added then quipped, “As much as possible ‘diyan ka muna sa heaven anak.’ Hahaha! ‘Wag muna, mag-iipon muna kami.”
But, of course, Kim considers a baby “always a blessing.”
The longtime partners also shared the pros and cons of living in one roof. Jerald said there are still things that they get to discover as they grow as a couple and as individuals.
However, one disadvantage is how to be honest with your special someone on the things that you go through individually. “Kailangan mong gawin yun sa partner mo para matulungan ka at yun naman ang masarap dun. Na kapag kailangan mo ng tulong at kailangan mo ng ka-partner sa buhay since nandiyan lang sa tabi mo, mas madali na at mas masarap,” said the 38-year-old actor.
Kim echoed Jerald: “Marami pa po akong madi-discover sa sarili ko. Kaka-30 ko lang last week. Nandun ako sa transition na, ‘Ah ito pala yung gusto kong gawin in the long run. Tapos mas lalo ko pang na-re-realize na tama ang desisyon ko na to be with him.” She, likewise, noted that they share common interests and goals in life.
The sweethearts also recalled the time when they had a lovers’ quarrel while doing the musical Rak of Aegis. “Nag-break kami nung kinagabihan. Kinabukasan kailangan naming magligawan sa stage. Pero break kami nun so fresh pa po yung break-up. Kumakanta kami ng Sinta na may bubbles sa paligid namin. Ang hirap,” shared Kim and confessed she cried backstage after the show.
Kim and Jerald played the lead roles in Rak of Aegis Aileen and Tolits, respectively. They met on the set of the musical drama.
Meanwhile, fresh from their hit flick Ang Babaeng Walang Pakiramdam with direk Darryl Yap, the reel-to-real life couple embark on another adventure together in the action-drama Ikaw at Ako At Ang Ending.
The upcoming film is about two strangers-turned-star-crossed lovers. Jerald plays a bagman (Martin) and meets Mylene, portrayed by Kim, a hotelkeeper. Hounded by the former’s troubled past, the two run away and hide to start anew but “unexpected end awaits” them.
Ikaw at Ako At Ang Ending is helmed by Irene Emma Villamor, the writer and director behind hugot movies Camp Sawi, Meet Me in St. Gallen and Sid & Aya: Not a Love Story.
“Parang lagi talagang pumupunta dun sa masakit, hindi ko alam kung bakit. Basta na lang siyang nangyayari. Parang attractive sa akin yung ganun na may loneliness,” replied direk Irene when asked why she likes to make her audience cry.
Nevertheless, Kim and Jerald said they were “very excited and happy” that they got to work with direk Irene again. “May kaba na ibang genre siya but at the same time, ulit, excited. Kasi iba siya from all of the movies na nagawa na namin together,” said Kim. They are both thankful for the trust that the filmmaker had given them.
“Content is king. Nandun lang yun (movie) sa platform. Unlike dati na, ‘O wala na sa sinehan yung pelikula after four or five days’. Ito, nandun lang sa platform. Once the content is really good, may word of mouth talaga na pwedeng kumalat na mapanood ng lahat tapos sobrang ligaya na maka-trabaho si direk Irene na kami ang bida,” expressed Jerald.
Kim furthered, “Nasa digital platform siya compared to before na kapag nasa sinehan tapos biglang mawawala na hindi mo na alam kung saan mo siya panonoorin. Ngayon kasi it’s there…. pwede siyang balik-balikan.” In other words, “digital movies will always be there for the people to see.”
Ikaw At Ako At Ang Ending will stream globally starting Aug. 13 on Vivamax, Vivamax Middle East & Europe, KTX.ph, IWantfc, and TFC IPTV.
