
MANILA, Philippines — For the second consecutive year, the Ateneo de Manila Midgets B (Born 2013) team brought home the championship in the RIFA Football Tournament.
Led by captains Jacob Navarro, Miguel Tagarda and Ryan Moti, the team ruled the tournament after defeating Claret, 5-1, in the finals.
The squad had to defeat Don Bosco Makati, 2-1, to make the Division 1 Cup semifinals.
They then came from down 0-1 against La Salle Zobel as they won during the penalties.
And against Claret, Navarro’s hat trick towed Ateneo to the victory. With his performance, Navarro was later named tournament Most Valuable Player.
Nelson Sadon and Erwin Mallorca coached the team in the championship seasons.
The team is made up of Red Alminar, Ethan Villanueva, Marcus Cuyugan, Gab Castro, Jacob Navarro, Altis Villasenor, Miggy Pineda, Johann Aranas, Ryan Moti, Savino Gunda, Daniel Guerrero, Jose Bernal, Teo Roman, Ayaan Pattnaik, Niall Enciso, Zac Diaz, Migo Achas and Miguel Tagarda.
