Carlo Biado entered the 2021 US Open Pool Championship final after a nail-biting 11-9 win against Oi Naoyuki of Japan at the Harrah’s Resort Atlantic City in New Jersey early Sunday.
Biado will face Aloysius Yapp of Singapore, who defeated Filipino cue artist Dennis Orcollo, 11-6, in a separate semifinal bout.
With Biado on the hill, the Japanese pool player tried to delay the Filipino’s entry but his loss has been sealed after scratching the cue ball in an attempt to pocket the number three ball.
From there, it was smooth sailing for the Filipino, who will try to win the coveted trophy and the $50,000 or around P 1.5 million prize pot.
It will not be easy for Bidao as the Singaporean dispatched two Filipinos on his way to the title match.
Yapp defeated Rodrigo Geronimo, 11-6, in the quarterfinals before eliminating Orcollo in the semis earlier.
The match will begin at 3:30 a.m. (Manila time).
