Cagayan sustains P1-B damage from ‘Florita’

TUGUEGARAO CITY, Cagayan – This province sustained P1-billion damage from severe tropical storm “Florita,” the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (PDRRMC) said Thursday, Sept. 1.

Agriculture had the most damage, particularly corn, rice, and fisheries, which reached P1,014,493,778.

The Provincial Veterinary Office reported that Florita affected livestock worth P4,503,965. Damage to infrastructure reached P9,399,000.

Meanwhile, one fatality was recorded, a person from Santo Nino who was hit by a caimito tree.

Three others, from Tuguegarao City, Enrile, and Allacapan, were injured after they hit by tree branches.

More than 200 barangays with 6,875 families and 23,340 individuals were affected.

Meanwhile, the Cagayan Valley Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council is on red alert status in preparation for the possible impact of typhoon “Henry” (international name “Hinnamnor”) which is already within the Philippine Area of ​​Responsibility (PAR).

Cagayan Gov. Manuel Mamba is monitoring the development of the tropical cyclone for possible directives to heads of concerned government agencies.
