MISS Universe Philippines 2022 Celeste Cortesi and her team are now in the USA ahead of the 71st Miss Universe competition.
In an Instagram post Wednesday morning, the 25-year-old Filipina-Italian looked fierce in the photos she shared as she arrived at the Los Angeles International Airport. Cortesi wore an all-red ensemble comprised of a leather coat with fur, knee-high boots and black cat-eye sunglasses.
Surrounded with six pieces of luggage that had Philippine flag and her name across the front, she wrote in the caption, “This is it Philippines! Swipe for some smiles.”
Hours later, more photos and videos of were uploaded by her mentors, Miss Universe Philippines Director of Communications Voltaire Tayag and Miss Universe Philippines Creative Director Jonas Gaffud as they landed in New Orleans, Louisiana where the competition proper will be held.
“Beyond the beauty, one can see the calm confidence and relaxed aura of @celeste_cortesi. Thank you so much for all the love and support you give her,” Tayag said.
Meanwhile, while Cortesi hopes to win the fifth Miss Universe crown for the Philippines following Gloria Diaz (1969), Margie Moran (1973), Pia Wurtzbach (2015), and Catriona Gray (2018), other Filipinos who get to represent the country in other ways within the pageant are shoemaker Joaquin “Jojo” Bragais – the official footwear provider for Miss Universe and Olivia Quido – the pageant's official skincare partner for the third consecutive year.
Eighty-six contestants will vie for the title of Miss Universe 2022 and succeed Harnaaz Sandhu of India on January 15 (Manila time) at the New Orleans Morial Convention Center. Filipino pageant fans can tune in to Kapamilya Channel, A2Z, Metro Channel, and iWantTFC.
This will be the first edition of the pageant to be held under the ownership of Thailand-based JKN Global Group, which purchased the Miss Universe Organization from WME/IMG on Oct. 26, 2022.
