Chery Auto previews new energy vehicles at the Philippine EV Summit 2023

There are more electrified vehicles in the pipeline for Chery Auto Philippines. The brand gave a sneak preview of some of these future models during the Philippine Electric Vehicle Summit (PEVS) 2023 held at the SMX Convention Center last week. These vehicles were two fully-electric vehicles (EV) and 1 plug-in hybrid vehicle (PHEV).

The three vehicles are part of Chery Auto’s bid to be at the forefront of change in promoting a new era of green mobility. Chery aims to complement its current line-up with complete new energy vehicle (NEV) derivatives.

The first to be introduced wat the Tiggo 7 Pro Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV). It boasts a powerful dual motor that is capable of propelling the car in full EV mode. It has also a 1.5-liter turbo engine which supports the hybrid function and at the same time supports battery charging. The Tiggo 7 PHEV also features a complete Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS), dual 12.3-inch screens with Apple Carplay and Android Auto, power front seats with four-way lumbar support and memory function for the driver seat, and heated and ventilated front seats.

The PHEV has three running modes, full EV mode, hybrid mode which combines electric and internal combustion, and pure internal combustion engine mode. When the vehicle purely uses the internal combustion engine, it also serves as a generator to charge the battery in addition to regenerative braking or making full use of the kinetic energy generated when the vehicle is decelerating. The vehicle can also be charged-fully by simply plugging it into a wall charger.

Chery is also hard at work on the next generation of propulsion, planning to reinforce its lineup with full EVs as it previews the eQ1 micro passenger car and eQ7 compact SUV.

The eQ7 is a fully-electric compact SUV with a driving range of more than 500 kilometers. It boasts of minimalist streamlined styling with an ultralow low wind drag coefficient of 0.31 supported by an active grill system (that intelligently closes or opens to improve aerodynamics). It offers unparalleled comfort with its class-leading long wheelbase which provides generous space for both driver and passengers. The eQ7 also has dual-zone air conditioning which is complemented with an air quality system that purifies recirculating air complemented by a fragrance system that can be selected by personal preference. The eQ7 is also equipped with dual 12.3-inch screens and has luxurious and futuristic interior.

It offers outstanding safety with its all-aluminum body structure. The eQ7 also adopts an upgraded lithium iron phosphate battery, which has passed the test of the highest waterproof grade, IPX9K, while the dual armor protection creates the safest battery in its class, providing long-lasting peace of mind.

It also has exceptional intelligent features with its L2+ semi-autonomous driving system which not only includes a complete and multi-scenario Advance Driver Assistance system which will make the drive easier and safe but also has a Driver Monitoring System to monitor the state of the driver in real time providing safety and protection especially on long distance driving.

“Chery’s global advocacy to promote green mobility through technological innovation in the Philippines will be realized as we officially introduce these new energy vehicles in the very near future. We are indeed excited as Chery’s vehicle lineup becomes vast with various options for Filipino buyers at the same time making them ready for full electric mobility,” said Chery Auto Ph Managing Director Froilan Dytianquin.

“After the Electric Vehicle Industry Development Act (EVIDA) was passed into law, Chery is now more committed to providing the Philippine market with competitively priced EVs and making these vehicles accessible to a wider range of car buyers,” Dytianquin added.
