MANILA, Philippines — Jhuniel dela Rama hit the game-winning jumper with 3.4 seconds remaining to push San Sebastian over the Letran Knights, 82-81, in their NCAA Season 101 men’s basketball matchup Wednesday at the FilOil EcoOil Centre in San Juan.
Dela Rama spun his way to a midrange jumper and sank it to grab the upset victory.
Cuajao tied things up at 80-all after a 3-pointer by Deo Cuajao.
Kevin Santos, then, split his freebies with 11.2 seconds left to go up by one, 81-80.
On the other end, dela Rama danced with the defense of Letran’s Mark Omega. He spun to the right, giving him a bit of separation as he took a fadeaway jumper. His shot rattled up before going in, giving the Stags the lead for good.
Deo Cuajao then had one shot to go for the win, but he hit the back of the rim and out.
San Sebastian thus rose to a 2-7 win-loss record, while Letran dropped to 5-4 in Group B.
