Drake rescheduled his ‘Young Money Reunion’ concert for Saturday. Here’s what fans are saying

Drake announced Thursday that the Young Money Reunion concert in Toronto has been rescheduled for Saturday after being cancelled on Monday when he tested positive for COVID-19 and some fans had mixed reactions to the short notice.

The Toronto-based artist was set to perform with Lil Wayne and Nicki Minaj before the positive test result. The show at the Budweiser Stage was meant to end Drake’s three-day OVO Fest music festival in Toronto.

In a post on Instagram, Drake says he has since tested negative and that everybody is flying back to the city to make it happen.

His postponement was the latest in a series of cancellations standing between Toronto residents and a summer of live music.

Canadian pop star Justin Bieber cancelled a series of shows in Toronto due to illness in June. Toronto-born artist The Weeknd postponed a stop in his hometown during a world tour, due the Rogers outage in early July. Later in the month, Shawn Mendes and New Kids on the Block also cancelled shows at the Scotiabank Arena.

Some were thrilled about the quick reschedule while others complained about the short notice, given all that’s happening in the city on a summer Saturday in August.

The same night Lady Gaga is set to perform at the Rogers Centre, Dababy has scheduled back-to-back shows at the Cabana Pool Bar and Rebel nightclub. Nigerian singer Burna Boy is set to perform at the Markham Fairgrounds and BMO Field will see the Toronto Argonauts face off against the Hamilton Tiger-Cats.
