A 25-year-old drug suspect was arrested after leading lawmen to a car chase and trading shots with them, following a buy-bust operation in Tuguegarao City, Cagayan, on Wednesday afternoon, police reported.
Suspect Aegis Aldheim Catral, a resident of Tuguegarao listed among the top 10 street-level targets in Cagayan Valley’s anti-drug campaign, not only yielded suspected shabu, but also guns, a stash of bullets, and a grenade, according to a report from the Cagayan provincial police.
Members of the provincial police’s drug enforcement unit carried out the buy-bust against Catral along Gonzaga ext., Centro 10, around 5:20 p.m.
Catral apparently sensed that he was dealing with an undercover policeman so he tried to escape aboard his Honda Civic sedan, and fired on pursuing lawmen, the report said.
Operatives returned fire and hit one wheel of Catral’s car, and cornered him near a bank along Bonifacio st., Centro 7.
Confiscated from the suspect were a .9mm pistol that still had a magazine and five rounds of ammunition, four more magazines for that gun, another .9mm pistol, three magazines for it that had 26 bullets each, a hand grenade, holster, sling bag, and a weighing scale.
Also seized were three sachets containing a total of about P15,000 worth of suspected shabu, two boxes containing over 100 fired cartridges, P6,320 cash, and the suspect’s car.
