Pole vaulter EJ Obiena broke the Philippine outdoor record after tallying 5.85 meters at the Jump and Play tournament in Mossingen, Germany early Saturday.
Obiena struck gold in the meet after breaking his previous-best 5.81 meters in Chiarri, Italy where he qualified for the Tokyo Olympics.
He has improved from his season-best 5.80 meter finish at the FBK Games in Helengo, Netherlands last 6 June.
Oleg Zernikel of Germany settled for silver after a 5.70 meter performance while fellow hometown bet Philip Kass tallied 5.40 meters for the bronze.
