First Lady Liza donates law books to West Visayas State University

ILOILO CITY – First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos has donated law books and other reading materials to the West Visayas State University (WVSU) where she is a part-time law professor.

The official Facebook page of WVSU posted photos of the boxes of books sent by the First Lady.

“In photo is WVSU President Dr. Joselito F. Villaruz browsing over the books and related resource materials from the donations purposely for the students and faculty of the College of Law (COL),” WVSU said in a Facebook post.

This was not the first time the First Lady has given materials to her students.

Last month, she gave away iPads and textbooks to her students when she came to Iloilo City a day prior to her birth anniversary.

The First Lady’s teaching stint at WVSU-COL is controversial as this was protested by students and other sectors in Iloilo.

This city and Iloilo are known bailiwicks of the opposition. Former Vice President Leni Robredo bested President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. in the May 2022 elections.

Villaruz defended the First Lady and emphasized she has the proper credentials.

The First Lady also wanted to teach law in Iloilo because of her strong roots. Her father Manuel Araneta Jr. is from Iloilo City while her mother Milagros Ledesma Cacho also has roots in Iloilo.
