Is there anything better than a highlight-reel hockey goal in the middle of summer?
Yeah, how about a slick Michigan move tally that comes to us courtesy of Philadelphia Flyers forward Matvei Michkov.
It was not a great 2025-26 season for Michkov, who, somewhat infamously, showed up to camp out of shape and had a hard time getting up to speed.
This year, he has been working out over in his native Russia and took part in a charity hockey game there called the Match of the Year, which was organized by NHLers Artemi Panarin and Mikhail Sergachev. It even featured Capitals star Alex Ovechkin.
When the Flyers made a surprise playoff run, Michkov found himself sitting out a pair of games, and only registered one point.
Of course, he’s still developing and is a key piece of a really exciting young Flyers team that has moved past the rebuild point and is now going to be expected to contend for the playoffs.
While GM Daniel Briere’s big bet on Leo Carlsson by way of a monster offer sheet didn’t pan out, the Orange and Black did re-sign key players like Trevor Zegras and Jamie Drysdale to keep them in the fold.
