Former PSE president named SEC chairman

FRANCIS Edralin Lim is the new Securities and Exchange Commission chairman, Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin said on Tuesday, replacing Emilio Aquino, whose term will end on June 5.

Lim, who specializes in corporate law and litigation, once served the Philippine Stock Exchange (PSE) as president and CEO from 2004 until 2010.

During his stint at the PSE, he also held key positions in various institutions such as the Securities Clearing Corp. of the Philippines, Capital Market Development Center, Inc., Philippine Stock Exchange Foundation, Inc., Philippine Dealing and Exchange Corp., and the Securities Investors Protection Fund.

He currently sits on the board of three publicly listed companies as director, namely Converge Information and Communications Technology Solutions, Inc. and as independent director for Union Bank of the Philippines and First Philippine Holdings Corp.
