MANILA, Philippines — The hardest thing in sports is moving on after a painful loss.

And that’s what Savi Davison and the PLDT High Speed Hitters were trying to accomplish when they edged the Farm Fresh Foxies, 22-25, 25-21, 27-25, 26-28, 15-11, on Tuesday to move on the cusp of seizing third place in the PVL All-Filipino Conference at the Smat Araneta Coliseum.

“I think we’ve had a pretty tough journey leading up to the playoffs so we really came into this game really wanting it and wanting to redeem ourselves,” said Davison, who went on bazooka mode and unloaded 33 points, including key ones in the fifth and deciding set.

“When you’ve been in and out of sports for so long, it’s kind of the way it is and this is what transpires when you move on from tough games,” she added.

Davison, of course, was referring to the Manny V. Pangilinan franchise’s heartbreaking semifinal experience that saw them missing the bus to the finals and a shot at adding another title to their PVL on Tour and Invitational trophies.

PLDT will have a chance to complete its road to redemption as it shoots for the jugular in tomorrow’s Game Two at the Big Dome.

A decider, if necessary, is set next week at the same Cubao venue.

If the High Speed Hitters end up snaring the series, it will be their third podium finish and first third-place trophy.

And for PLDT, that is better than not taking home anything at all.
