The best in Philippine sports get their time to shine as the 11 nations in the region duke it out in the 33rd edition of the Southeast Asian Games.

Close to 1,200 athletes make up the country’s biggest delegation ever for the biennial showpiece hosted by Thailand for the seventh time, with the competition running from December 9 to 20 all around capital city Bangkok and nearby province Chonburi.

Team Philippines showcases a who’s who of international trailblazers, including Olympic weightlifting champion Hidilyn Diaz, top-ranked pole vaulter EJ Obiena, rising tennis star Alex Eala, and basketball standout Thirdy Ravena.

Boxing champion Eumir Marcial leads PH team in closing ceremony

Five-time SEA Games boxing champion Eumir Marcial serves as the Philippines’ flag bearer in the closing ceremony at the Rajamangala Stadium in Bangkok on Saturday, December 20.

Marcial captured the Philippines’ lone boxing gold in this edition, helping the country finish with a 50-gold haul.

Other Filipino athletes who are part of the parade include father and daughter Richard and Juliana Gomez, who won medals in sporting clays and fencing, respectively.

PH wraps up 2025 SEA Games with 277-medal haul highlighted by 50 golds

Team Philippines collected 50 golds, 73 silvers, and 154 bronzes for a total of 277 medals as the 2025 Southeast Asian Games came to a close on Saturday, December 20.

Following a tight battle for the fifth spot with Malaysia and Singapore, the Philippines eventually finished sixth in the race for the overall championship expectedly dominated by host Thailand, which captured a SEA Games record of 233 golds to go with 154 silvers and 112 bronzes.
