Like most love teams, that of Donny Pangilinan and Belle Mariano — more popularly known as DonBelle — started gaining massive following because of their strong chemistry on screen. But after serving the kilig dose with their TV series and first full length movie in 2021, Pangilinan and Mariano are ready to take the next step — showcase their acting chops in more challenging scenes.

They need not go far from the project that launched their love team, however, as DonBelle will reprise their roles in “He's Into Her Season 2” which will premiere on April 22. This time, however, Deib (Pangilinan) and Max (Mariano) are maturing in the series and so are Pangilinan and Mariano who both have to step up their acting game.

“Noong una kinabahan ako kasi this time mas may depth and layers yung characters, mas makikita nyo yung challenges na pagdadaanan nila. But with the help of everyone, it was easier to be back in the zone and be Max again,” Mariano admitted at the show's media conference.

“It was definitely a challenge but we enjoyed the challenge, we enjoyed showing a different side of their relationship — how far they are now, the problems they go through, with their families and even their friends. There's a lot, but we enjoyed doing those sides,” Pangilinan shared.

In season two, former-enemies-turned lovers Deib and Max are officially the newest power couple in Benison International School. Their relationship seems to be smooth sailing until problems from their past begin to haunt them and unanswered questions start to resurface.

Deib and Max will face the highs and lows of a young couple as they endure real problems that come with a more mature relationship. Will Deib and Max still get their happy ending? How will Deib and Max's friends resolve the issues within their barkada?

Despite heavier demands from their roles, DonBelle impressively portrayed their more mature characters, as attested by series director Chad Vidanes who was also present in the conference.

“Sa season na ito, sobrang daming emotional scenes, sobrang drained yung dalawa. Sometimes madaling araw na, we're still taking heavy scenes so they are both exhausted but we have to push through so I really motivate them and remind them of our goal — na mailabas yung message na gusto nating mailabas dito sa kwentong ito.”

This time, however, the high school couple will endure bigger problems that come with a more mature relationship.

One of these heavy scenes, which also became a highlight of the show's official trailer, was an emotional confrontation between the two leads in the middle of a heavy downpour.

“For me that's one of, if not the hardest scene that we took this season. Kudos to Donny and Belle, hindi ko sila sinukuan at hindi rin sila sumuko kahit grabe yung shooting conditions noon. We were on top of the mountain, at sobrang lamig. We have to prioritize their health so mabilisan ang setup namin. But makikita mo talaga si Donny and Belle na sobrang focused with their characters,” Vidanes revealed.

DonBelle remembered the challenges of that scene just as vividly and therefore take pride in overcoming them, together.

“Yung rain scene, hindi biro kasi one take lang. Even our camera was handheld. We had a lot of preparation such as practicing our lines and movements before the scene, making sure we hit those markers. Ang daming technical aspect but I'm happy that we were able to pull it off,” Pangilinan detailed.

Mariano agreed, adding, “Blood, sweat and tears ang pinagdaanan namin but seeing the scene after — sobrang worth it talaga.”

In tackling heavy scenes just like the rain scene from He's Into Her Season 2, the onscreen couple revealed they have already adapted a system between them.

“We talk about it but we don't talk. It's a mix of both, we talk it about it beforehand but before taking the scene, hindi kami mag-uusap at all, zero, we're just in our own spots.

“May sarili akong way na magkaroon ng emotion sa scene, siya rin may sarili siyang way na kumarga. And then, when we get to the set to take, doon na namin ilalabas. After direk says cut, we make sure to comfort each other. Hindi pwedeng nakabukas lang yung pintuan na yun tapos hindi isasara,” said Pangilinan.

Finishing, Mariano added, “It is a collaboration but we feed off each other.”

“He's Into Her Season 2” is directed by Vidanes, with Vanessa Valdez as its head writer, and produced by ABS-CBN Entertainment, Star Cinema, and iWantTFC. It also stars Jeremiah Lisbo, Dalia Varde, Joao Constancia, Criza Taa, Kaori Oinuma, Vivoree Esclito, Gello Marquez, and Limer Veloso.
