Iloilo police chief bares gains in second month

ILOILO CITY – Police Col. Bayani Razalan presented his accomplishments in his second month as Iloilo province police chief.

“We highlight the trust and cooperation of our community as well as the unwavering dedication of the Ilonggo cops to ensure a safer and more secure environment for the residents of Iloilo province,” said Razalan, officer-in-charge of the Iloilo Police Provincial Office (IPPO).

The IPPO is gradually transferring to its new headquarters in Passi City after the June 10 inauguration under Razalan’s tenure.

The campaign against illegal drugs is on top of Razalan’s priorities. More than P19 million worth of shabu was seized from 101 indivuduals in 98 anti-drug operations from April 19 to June 19.

Two-hundred sixteen fugitives were arrested in the campaign against wanted persons. Forty-six were classified as most wanted persons.

Fifty-three suspects were arrested and P23,200 in bet money were confiscated in 21 operations in the campaign against illegal gambling.

In the campaign against illegal firearms, 28 persons were arrested and 27 firearms were seized. Eighty-four unlicensed firearms were surrendered and 15 firearms with expired licenses were temporarily deposited at police stations for safekeeping.

In collaboration with the Iloilo Provincial Bantay Dagat Task Force, the IPPO arrested 71 people for illegal fishing. Forty fishing vessels were impounded.

The IPPO collaborated with the Provincial Task Force Anti-Overloading and apprehended 68 drivers for illegal quarrying. Trucks loaded with sand and gravel were impounded.

Six suspected illegal loggers were nabbed.

Razalan replaced Police Col. Ronaldo Palomo on April 19.

Iloilo consists of 42 towns and the component city of Passi.
