Yearend festivities look different from those of previous years because of the Covid-19 pandemic. Large celebrations are being put on hold and a gathering of more than 10 is discouraged. Yet, Filipinos are set on making every party intimate yet memorable.
Holiday preparations can be stressful — imagine all the cooking and cleaning that need to be done. And, you also want to enjoy the limited time with your loved ones. Let go of your worries and keep in mind these household tips for the holidays.
It helps to plan the menu ahead. Take your time to list everything that you need before making a trip to the grocery store. That way, you won’t have to spend much time wandering along the aisles. You’ll be less exposed to the virus, too.
Prepare food in small batches. The beauty of intimate gatherings is that it gives you the elbow room to whip up different dishes. And because it is a small-sized party, meals are served in small batches.
Repurpose leftovers. The last thing you want are piles of containers inside your fridge.
Rustle them up (blend cooked vegetables with a can of whole tomatoes to make pasta sauce, or recycle the lechon to make Paksiw).
Lastly, enjoy the occasion because we all deserve to have a happy holiday after a very stressful year.
