As the biggest global Expo draws to an exciting close this month, Kapuso fans in Dubai will be treated to special performances from GMA Network's flagship international channel, GMA Pinoy TV, which will be holding a special concert tonight, March 30 at Dubai Millennium Amphitheatre, Dubai Expo Grounds.
“Stronger Together: GMA Pinoy TV at Expo 2020 Dubai,” the musical extravaganza will be headlined by Asia's Limitless Star, Julie Anne San Jose.
“It's the first time for everyone to perform abroad since the pandemic happened. There has been a lot of challenges for the past two years but we're all very thankful for this opportunity kasi napakalaking event nitong Dubai Expo. We're happy and excited na makita ang mga kababayan natin sa Dubai,” San Jose happily shared in a media conference.San Jose sang GMA Pinoy TV's latest station ID, “Stronger Together” and popularized the Stronger Together TikTok dance challenge that already hit more than 1 million views.
Coincidentally, the concert's theme is #StrongerTogether which aims to share the message that Filipinos abroad, though separated by distance, can draw strength from each other and still unite in facing the adversities in life.
“I think it sends a powerful message of hope para sa ating mga Kapuso. Kasi nga sa gitna ng pandemic at sa kabila ng lahat ng pinagdadaanan natin, nananatiling resilient ang mga Pilipino. We're stronger together dahil alam natin sa sarili natin na makakaya natin lahat ng mga pagsubok natin kapag nagtutulungan tayo,” San Jose mentioned, adding that she will be singing some of her original songs as well as upbeat and mellow songs that people can relate to.
Joining this most-awaited Kapuso comeback concert are “The Clash Season 3” Grand Champion, Jessica Villarubin, and actor-filmmaker Xian Lim. This will mark Lim's first Kapuso project abroad.
“It's inspiring to join events like these, and perform in front of Filipinos after two years. We're confined in safe space, ngayong, we're slowly opening up, nakakatuwa lang to be in front of thousands of people, our kababayan,” Lim said.
Meanwhile, this is the very first international concert of Villarubin, who emerged as one of the promising vocal performers of GMA. She is as excited to serenade thousands of concertgoers who long to hear OPM live once again. “Sana matuwa din yung mga kababayan natin sa Dubai kasi yung ang goal namin, ang mapasaya natin sila. We will make sure to do our best for them,” Villarubin said.
Dubai Expo is considered as the biggest expo ever staged in its history. It is also the first time it is being held in the Middle East. Middle East is a very special place as it is home to millions of Filipinos working and living there.
In Dubai, there are at least 500 to 700,000 Filipinos.”Stronger Together: GMA Pinoy TV at Expo 2020 Dubai” opens tonight at Dubai Millennium Amphitheatre, Dubai Expo Grounds, 8 p.m. while the show starts at 9 p.m.
