MANILA, Philippines — Adamson returned to its winning ways after fending off the University of the East Lady Warriors in four sets, 25-15, 25-18, 21-25, 25-18, in their UAAP Season 88 women’s volleyball tournament Saturday at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.

The Lady Falcons, fresh off a loss against National University the other day, relied on Shai Nitura and Frances Mordi to grab their second win in three contests, while keeping UE winless through three games.

Nitura and Mordi had 19 points apiece. The former had 13 digs and 12 receptions, while the latter had nine receptions and seven digs.

After dropping the first two sets, UE was able to find their footing in the third set.

With the third frame tied at 18, Bea Zamudio and Van Bangayan sparked three straight Lady Warrior points to go up, 21-18.

Adamson was able to inch closer to just two twice, but a block on Abegail Segui forced the fourth set for UE, 25-21.

Come the fourth frame though, Mordi and Nitura were simply unstoppable.

With UE trailing by four, 15-19, Mordi and Fhey Sagaysay teamed up for four points to keep the Lady Warriors at bay, 23-17.

A Mordi service error kept UE within striking distance, 18-23, but a service error by Kristine Iquio and a kill by Nitura iced the match.

Sagaysay had 10 points on five aces, four attacks and a block to go with 15 excellent sets. Lhouiz Tuddao and Segui chipped in seven and six points, respectively.

Zamudio carried the load for the Lady Warriors with 14 points, while Khy Cepada and Bangayan had 11 apiece.

UE will return to action next Saturday against the University of Santo Tomas Golden Tigresses at the UST Quadricentennial Pavilion, while Adamson will face the Far Eastern University Lady Tamaraws next Sunday at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
