MANILA, Philippines — Three straight wins for the Far Eastern University Lady Tamaraws.

The Lady Tamaraws on Sunday trampled the University of the Philippines Fighting Maroons in straight-sets, 25-13, 25-21, 25-16, to win their third straight match in the UAAP Season 88 women’s volleyball tournament at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

Aly Devosora led the charge for FEU with 15 points on 13 attacks and two aces. Gerz Petallo and Cla Loresco chipped in 12 and 11 markers, respectively, in the win.

“Yung performance namin ibibigay ko talaga sa players ko lalo kay Gerzel and Alyzza. Yung leadership nila. Gusto ko rin i-acknowledge ‘yung mga coaches kasi inaral talaga namin ‘yung mga tendencies,” said FEU head coach Tina Salak.

“Continue lang namin ‘yung ganitong momentum and of course yung goal naman hindi natatapos ngayong first round.”

After an easy win in the first set, FEU had to grind it out in the second set.

The frame was tied at 19-all before the Lady Tamaraws unleashed a 6-2 finishing kick capped by a kill and a service ace by Devosora, 25-21.

In the third set, the Lady Tamaraws pulled away late.

The Morayta-based squad took a 15-12 advantage to a 22-15 lead.

A Kianne Olango point, though, kept UP within striking distance, 16-22, but a Loresco attack, and an ace by Petallo, iced the match.

Joan Monares carried the offensive load for the Fighting Maroons with eight points. Kianne Olango and Nina Ytang followed suit with six markers each.

FEU rose to solo third with a 4-2 win-loss slate, while UP dropped to 3-2.
