Vice President Leni Robredo places herself on quarantine following a direct exposure to an aid who later tested positive for the deadly coronavirus disease.
“I was with him in the car, in the elevator, and in the office almost every day this week. We have regular surveillance antigen testing in the office and we do follow very strict health protocols but because I was a very close contact, I need to do the required quarantine and do an RT-PCR test after my quarantine,” she said in a Facebook post on Saturday.
Robredo was supposed to leave for Bicol to pay her last respects to a friend named Osy who unfortunately expired due to a long bout with cancer. She shared that she became close to her because she is the mother of one of her “most dependable go-to staff” who has been heading many of the Office of the Vice President’s (OVP’s) Covid Response Operations since the onset of the pandemic.
However, she had to cancel her plans and observe herself for any symptoms that may come up due to her exposure to a Covid-19 positive aid.
This was not the first time that the virus has affected the work of the Vice President. Back in 2020, she has been exposed to the virus multiple times through members of her staff testing positive for Covid-19 promoting her office to suspend work. She however has always tested negative for the virus.
