LIVE UPDATES: EDSA People Power Revolution 40th anniversary

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

The Philippines marks the anniversary of the 1986 EDSA People Power Revolution on Wednesday, February 25, exactly 40 years since the ouster of dictator Ferdinand E. Marcos.

Various groups are holding rallies and other activities across the country to commemorate the peaceful revolution, including one at the People Power Monument along EDSA, led by the Trillion Peso March Movement, and another at the EDSA Shrine, organized by Bayan and other progressive groups.

The events are all set despite President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s declaration of February 25 as a special working day — not a non-working day or holiday, unlike in past administrations.
