Lyceum survived a feisty San Beda, 25-19, 25-22, 20-25, 25-23, Saturday to bolster its bid in NCAA women’s volleyball at the Paco Arena.

Janeth Tulang waxed hot and unloaded a match-high 15 points including 14 off spikes as the Lady Pirates jumped to No. 3 alongside the San Sebastian Lady Stags and the Arellano Lady Chiefs on identical 2-1 marks.
It also produced heroes in Jewel Therese Maligmat, Zonxi Dahab and Johna Denise Dolorito, who uncorked 14, 13 and 12 hits, respectively.
The recent triumph soothed the pain of Lyceum’s embarrassing 25-21, 25-8, 25-13 thrashing it received from College of St. Benilde, which was currently tied for first with Jose Rizal University with 2-0 records.
This early, the Cromwell Garcia-mentored Lyceum belles are putting up one of their best performances to date as they shoot for their very first title in the country’s oldest collegiate league.
It was another disappointing defeat by San Beda, who remained winless in three games.
Maxinne Joyce Tayag paced the Red Spikers with 13 points while Trisha Mae Paras added 12.
