Man arrested for illegal gun possession in Muntinlupa

The Muntinlupa Police arrested a man who was found in possession of an unlicensed firearm on Feb. 5.

Col. Robert Domingo, Muntinlupa Police chief, identified the suspect as alias Bogoy, 23, who was arrested during the implementation of a search warrant in Barangay Poblacion.

The operation was conducted based on a search warrant issued by Executive Judge Liezel Aquiatan of the Muntinlupa Regional Trial Court Branch 205.

It was carried out by personnel from the Muntinlupa Police Poblacion Substation, Southern Police District Intelligence Division, Muntinlupa Police Investigation and Detective Management Section and SWAT.

The police seized a .22-caliber pistol without a serial number, a magazine, and five rounds of live ammunition.

The confiscation of the gun was part of the efforts of the police to combat the possession of unregistered firearms in the city.

Investigation also revealed that Bogoy had a criminal history, including a robbery case on Sept. 14, 2016, and four counts of theft on Jan. 11, 2017, May 7, 2019, May 3, 2020, and Dec. 31, 2020.

A formal complaint has been filed against the suspect for violating Republic Act 10591 (Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act) and the Omnibus Election Code before the Muntinlupa City Prosecutor’s Office.

“These operations reflect our unwavering dedication to keeping Muntinlupa City safe. We call on the public to support our initiatives by providing information that can lead to the apprehension of individuals involved in criminal activities,” stated Brig. Gen. Manuel Abrugena, SPD chief.
