The Manila local government broke ground for what will become its largest local government pharmacy warehouse in Manila.

Manila Mayor Honey Lacuna-Pangan thanked 6th District Congressman Benny Abante, Jr. for his effort in helping her administration which had been operating on a budget.

In partnership with the office of Rep. Abante and the Department of Health (DOH), she announced that the city of Manila will have its largest warehouse of medicines for the local government’s use to boost the city’s continuous prioritization of health care.

The mayor with Congressman Abante Jr. were joined by DOH Usec. Dr. Emmie Liza Perez-Chiong and Manila City Health Officer Dr. Arnold Pangan during the groundbreaking ceremony at the Isidro Mendoza Health Center construction site in Pandacan.

“Aside from the initiation of the construction of the pharmacy warehouse, the construction of the newly improved Isidro Mendoza Health Center is another much awaited feat, with the completion expected around April 2025. Mas palalakasin pa po natin ang serbisyong pangkalusugan sa Maynila (We will empower the health service in Manila),” the mayor assured.

As a doctor, the local chief executive said she fully understands the residents’ need for cheap and accessible medicines.

“Malaking bagay po sa akin ang usaping kalusugan kaya masaya akong ibalita na sinimulan na natin ngayong araw ang pagtatatag ng pinakamalaking pharmacy warehouse ng lungsod. Maraming salamat po kay Cong. Benny Abante Jr. at sa Department of Health sa kanilang suporta para maisakatuparan ito (Health is very important to me, so I am happy to announce that today we have started the establishment of the city’s largest pharmacy warehouse. Many thanks to Cong. Benny Abante Jr. and the Department of Health for their support in making this possible),” said the mayor.

She said the city government is also continuing to improve the Isidro Mendoza Health Center to better serve fellow citizens. Their target is to complete it by April 2025.
