Marcos names Aldeguer-Roque as acting DTI secretary


OATH-TAKING. President Marcos administers the oath of office to Acting Trade and Industry Secretary Cristina Aldeguer-Roque.

President Ferdinand Marcos on Friday named Undersecretary Cristina Aldeguer-Roque as Acting Secretary of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) following the resignation of Secretary Alfredo Pascual.

Roque was appointed two days after Pascual tendered his resignation as head of the agency on Wednesday, July 31, 2024.Pascual’s resignation took effect today.

Pascual cited as reasons for his resignation his desire to return to the private sector and spend more time with his family.

President Marcos cited Roque’s dedication and leadership in supporting MSMEs (micro, small and medium enterprises), noting the vital role of the DTI in economic growth. He also thanked Pascual for his service and looks forward to a smooth transition under Roque’s leadership.

Roque, who has been leading the MSME Development Group within DTI, oversees key areas including the Bureau of Small and Medium Enterprise Development, the Bureau of Marketing Development and Promotions, and the Small Business Corporation.

She holds a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Management Engineering from De La Salle University.
