Megaworld Corp., the property development unit of billionaire Andrew Tan, is upgrading its reward to Olympic double-gold gymnast Carlos Edriel Yulo to a three-bedroom fully-furnished condominium unit, plus a P3-million cash for a total of P35 million.

This came after Yulo bagged another gold on Sunday in the men’s vault at the 2024 Paris Olympics. Yulo also won gold for the Philippines at floor exercise Friday, making him the Philippines’ first double-gold medalist in the Olympics. Prior to Yulo’s feat, the Philippines won just a gold medal in the past century, courtesy of weightlifter Hidilyn Diaz who won it at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics held in 2021.

Megaworld said Monday it would reward Yulo with a bigger three-bedroom unit in one of its premier residential properties inside the 50-hectare McKinley Hill, Taguig City worth P32 million. The unit comes with two-balconies, a separate maid’s room and a parking lot.

Megaworld will also give a P3-million cash prize to Yulo for his exceptional achievement.

“Since this is a very significant milestone in the history of Philippine sports to have two gold Olympic medals with the 100th year participation as a country in the Olympics, which also coincides with our 35th anniversary this year, we are boosting our reward for Carlos Yulo now totalling P35 million,” said Megaworld president Lourdes Gutierrez-Alfonso.

“He truly deserves this, and we will always be proud of him for taking Filipino excellence to the next level,” she said.

Megaworld earlier pledge to reward “each Filipino Olympic gold medalist” at the 2024 Paris Olympic Games with a two-bedroom unit valued at P24-million in McKinley Hill.
