MANILA, Philippines — Miss Cosmo 2025 1st runner-up Chelsea Fernandez received a beauty queen's equivalent of a hero's welcome during her homecoming in Sultan Kudarat.
Chelsea was warmly received by fans outside the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 1 from her Vietnam trip last January 26.
The beauty queen flew to Sultan Kudarat the following day, January 27, to pay a courtesy call to provincial governor Pax Ali Mangudadatu and drop by her birthplace, the City of Tacurong.
Yesterday, January 28, Chelsea was at her homecoming parade riding a float shaped like the Miss Cosmo crown and participated in several charity activities, including a visit to children in a provincial hospital.
The province continued honoring Chelsea by appointing her as the Tourism Ambassadress of Sultan Kudarat "entrusted to represent the province's culture, heritage, and values to the world."
Sultan Kudarat even declared December 20 — the date of Miss Cosmo 2025 — every year as "Miss Chelsea Day" to celebrate her runner-up finish.
"A daughter of Sultan Kudarat whose journey continues to inspire beyond the crown. This is more than recognition — this is history being written," Miss Cosmo said on social media about the beauty queen's recognitions.
Chelsea finished behind the United States' Yolina Lindquist, although organizers said both women would reign simultaneously.
