MMDA to ax wayward enforcers

The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) issued a stern warning to lousy traffic enforcers: They would lose their jobs they don’t do well.

This is the warning issued by MMDA traffic chief Bong Nebrija, as the agency endeavors to keep its rank clean of personnel unbecoming of MMDA.

He said their manpower, particularly those deployed across the breadth and length of the 24-kilometer EDSA, has dwindled on account of the cleansing the agency does, so that 500 enforcers have been deployed to cover a 7 AM-to-7 PM duty to keep up with the demands of the major thoroughfares.

Although the traffic situation, particularly along Edsa, was not heavy due to the pandemic, they have to maintain the physical presence of MMDA.

To discipline their personnel, who are missing in action in unforgiving weather situations, the MMDA has deployed a team of inspectors and intelligence team roaming from post to posts.
