Nicolas, a graduate of Fine Arts majoring in Interior Design at University of the East, has artwork that aims to capture fleeting moments. He depicts various pauses. Likened to the popular saying, he takes time to pause and smell the roses, relax before starting again. Nicolas's “Pause Transformation” is captured in this quote: “We sometimes forget about the beauty and transformative power of a simple life during so much conflict and turmoil. In a fast-paced world, it can be hard to slow down, pause, and reflect on what is happening around us.”

Meanwhile, the inspiration for Quias' work came to her while working and combining wood one day. Her eyes got fixated on all the scraps and chips scattered all over. She saw houses, communities in all that chaos. Where most people would see disarray, mayhem, or even garbage, her artist's eyes saw shapes, and even patterns. She calls these minis Ayen's Little Town, and they are set close together either in rows or on top of one another, using pieces of wood that have been combined and assembled.

The meaning of Ayen's Little Town is captured in this quote: “Her work strives to bring order to chaos and find balance in the midst of life's daily struggles.” She believes that in this complicated world, being happy with simple things is priceless and prostrates herself as an advocate of complex simplicity. The dynamic duo Nicolas and partner Quias, founded the art group named Contemporary Art Movement of the Philippines (CAMP) and in Nostalgia the strength of their artworks was further highlighted through the tandem of their strong belief in the power of simplicity, particularly in this relaxingly colorful duo show.

I'm overwhelmed with joy due to the heartwarming display of friendship and thoughtfulness from my dear friend, renowned band leader Marcy David. He hosted a delightful luncheon buffet at the elegant Escolta of Manila Peninsula. This post birthday treat was long overdue due to a few reschedules, but it was worth the wait.

Marcy suggested inviting a dozen close friends, and it was an easy decision for me to choose those near and dear to my heart. Alongside me were two recent birthday celebrants, Fortune Ledesma and Cory Quirino, who joined in blowing out our birthday candles.

Among the cherished guests were Anna Sia, Amb. Vic and gorgeous wife Connie Garcia, Bong Prada Lim, Joy Fong, Jorge, and Frieda Hizon. Of course, my beloved better half, George Sarakinis, was there too. The gathering stood as a testament to the enduring friendships and respect.

I extend my gratitude to Marcy for the sumptuous luncheon spread at the Escolta of Manila Peninsula. Everyone enjoyed the gourmet delicacies as laughter and conversations flowed freely.

Here's my birthday wish for Fortune Ledesma and Cory Quirino— may our years ahead be filled with more friendship and happiness.

Again, I want to express my heartfelt thanks to Marcy David for his exceptional thoughtfulness and generosity. The bond of our friendship is something I'll always treasure.
