MPL PH: Wide-open race still looms as group stage enters final week

MANILA, Philippines — It is still anyone's game in the upcoming final week of the Mobile Legends Professional League (MPL) Philippines as all remaining teams still have a chance to qualify for the playoffs.

With Aurora, Team Liquid Philippines and ONIC Philippines already in the playoffs — with top seed Aurora even guaranteed a No. 1 finish — all eyes are on the remaining five teams that are still in the playoff race.

Smart Omega and TNC Pro Team, both sitting at five points, just need another series win to book a playoff ticket. But both teams have tough opponents ahead, with Smart Omega facing Aurora on Saturday, October 11, while TNC will be up against ONIC Philippines on Sunday, October 12.

Twisted Minds, which had a great start of the season, will be hoping to break its four-game losing streak against TNC Pro Team to guarantee a playoffs spot and possibly even eliminate the Phoenix Army from contention.

Team Falcons and AP Bren, which have been at the elimination zone for most of the season, are also still alive in the race, with Team Falcons PH securing crucial wins over the weekend against ONIC Philippines and AP Bren. They will need to win their match against Team Liquid Philippines to stay alive in the tournament.

AP Bren has the toughest path of them all, with its remaining matches up against the current top seed in the ranking, against Aurora and Team Liquid Philippines on Friday and Sunday, respectively.

The final week of the regular season opens this Friday, October 10, at 5 p.m., with Aurora against AP.Bren, followed by Smart Omega versus ONIC Philippines at 7:30 p.m.
