BACOLOD CITY – The Silay City Police Station (CPS) in Negros Occidental has received some PHP5.781 million worth of firearms and equipment from the city government.
“This generous act of the local government of Silay is a manifestation of its full support to the Philippine National Police organization in its law enforcement and peace and order endeavors,” the Silay CPS headed by Lt. Col. Robert Petate said in a statement on Thursday.
The firearms and equipment were turned over by Mayor Mark Golez to Petate, Executive Master Sgt. Eric Entero, and the Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) team in rites at the city’s Operations Center on Wednesday.
These included 10 AR 15 M-16 rifles, 10 XR-7 12-gauge semi-automatic shotguns,10 of Tisas caliber .45 pistols with magazines and ammunition, ballistic helmets, plates and shields, battering rams, bullet-proof vests, and other accessories.
According to the Silay CPS, the donated firearms and equipment will boost the station’s firepower and enhance its basic operational requirements.
“We thank the mayor for equipping our SWAT personnel,” Petate said. (PNA)
