Another Nigerian allegedly part of a drug syndicate was killed when he resisted arrest during a buy-bust operation, this time in Pasig City.
Killed was Emmanuel Christopher Chukwuma, member of the so-called West African Syndicate or WADS, according to a report from the PNP Drug Enforcement Unit (DEG).
Members of the DEG, along with operatives from the National Capital Region Police Office, PNP Anti-Kidnapping Group, and Pasig City Police, carried out the operation around 5:30 p.m. Monday, at a “budget hotel” along Escarpment Road, Brgy. Bagong Ilog.
Chukwuma, who apparently sensed that he was dealing with a lawman, resisted and grabbed the poseur-buyer’s firearm, so the other operatives shot him, the report said.
Seized from the slain suspect were about 2 kilos or P13.6 million worth of suspected shabu, as well as the P2,000 cash and bundles of fake bills used as buy-bust money.
Chukwuma, known to be residing in Angeles City, Pampanga, was allegedly a partner of Gabriel Onyechefula, another Nigerian who got killed in a police operation in Concepcion, Tarlac, last December 31, 2020.
He escaped the sting in Concepcion, where two kilos of shabu and a machine pistol were confiscated from Onyechefula, until the same operatives managed to track him down, the PDEG said.
Chukwuma was also allegedly a contact of Kingsley Iwumune, who was arrested on 5 November 2020 in Brgy. Manuyo Dos, Las Piñas City.
