Ombudsman suspends Bohol governor over controversial Chocolate Hills resort

Manila Standard

The Office of the Ombudsman has ordered the preventive suspension of Bohol Gov. Erico Aumentado and 68 other provincial government officials following the controversy surrounding The Captain’s Peak Garden and Resort, which was established right in the heart of Chocolate Hills.

The resort, located in Sagbayan town, went viral in March when Filipinos assailed its construction as it ruined the natural beauty of Chocolate Hills—one of the most popular tourism landmarks in Bohol that was also declared a UNESCO World Heritage site.
