In an effort to promote Covid-19 vaccination, the government is offering P3 million in cash as raffle prizes among those who received anti-coronavirus shots.
On Saturday, the Department of Health (DOH) said it had launched an SMS-based raffle dubbed “Bakunado Panalo” to incentivize inoculation against Covid-19.
“Through this raffle, we celebrate the contribution that each Filipino makes in choosing to get vaccinated and playing their part to end this pandemic,” Health Secretary Francisco Duque III said through a statement.
According to the DOH, 100 winners would receive an undisclosed amount during monthly draws from October to December. Meanwhile, P1 million would be given at the grand draw before year-end.
Partially vaccinated individuals would each receive one raffle entry each, and they would get two more entries after completing their vaccination.
Those who receive single-dose vaccines would automatically get three raffle entries.
Senior citizens would be entitled to double the number of raffle entries.
“This is to ensure that people return for their second dose and that the most vulnerable sector — the senior citizens — are vaccinated and protected,” Duque said.
All Filipinos were encouraged to join the raffle, except family members and relatives of those who organized the raffle.
Local government officials, including those at the national level, were also barred from joining the project.
Interested participants would register for free via SMS. Raffle winners would be informed via text, and their names would also be posted in the DOH website and all of its social media accounts.
The Philippines has fully vaccinated over 21.8 million Filipinos based on the government’s latest data. Over 23 million individuals were still waiting for their second doses.
