MANILA, Philippines — No fight between Manny Pacquiao and welterweight titleholder Rolly Romero will materialize anytime soon.
This after negotiations have failed between the two fighters’ camps, The Ring’s Mike Coppinger reported.
Pacquiao, who came back from retirement in July and fought World Boxing Council welterweight champion Mario Barrios to a draw, had been eyeing Romero, holder of the World Boxing Association version of the title.
The Filipino icon is keen on becoming world champion again at age 47, and his camp has been working on finalizing a showdown with Romero reportedly for March 2026.
But with the chips not falling into place, Pacquiao is expected to move on. Aside from Romero, it was reported that a rematch with Floyd Mayweather Jr. and an exhibition bout with retired former champion Vasiliy Lomachenko are on the table for Pacquiao.
