The Department of National Defense (DND) on Thursday denied rumors pertaining to the resignation of its chief, Gilbert Teodoro.

DND Spokesperson Arsenio Andolong in a statement said, “there is no truth to the rumor perpetrated by certain sectors online” about DND Secretary Teodoro’s exit in the department.

“We call on those who purposely propagate unfounded lies to be circumspect and refrain from spreading misinformation and disinformation,” Andolong said.

He also assured that the DND is focused squarely on boosting the nation’s capabilities to protect Philippine territorial integrity and sovereignty.

“We urge the public to be vigilant against misleading claims that aim to sow discord among the Filipino people and divert our attention from the real challenges that beset our country.”

The Presidential Communications Office has also refuted the said rumors.

According to Secretary Cesar Chavez, President Marcos’ “full trust and confidence” in Secretary Teodoro “has never wavered.”

Secretary Chavez dismissed the rumors as “pathetic attempts to sow disunity in an organization united in protecting our people and defending our territory.”

He added that the military should be spared from “corrosive politicking.”
