Police said hundreds of Catholic devotees climbed the annual Panaad Via Crucis mountain trail in Barangay Anticala as part of their Holy Week pilgrimage.
Devotees trekked a five-kilometer mountainside road signifying the route Jesus Christ took on the day of His crucifixion. Fourteen Stations of the Cross were placed on the trail toward the mountain.
Three-hundred policemen, backed up by soldiers and force multipliers, secured the area since Maundy Thursday.
“Thank you Lord, everything was in order, with no untoward incident,” PRO 13-RPIO chief Police Major Jennifer S. Ometer said.
PRO-13 Director Police Brig. Gen. Christopher N. Abrahano fully supports this year’s Panaad, she said. “Over all it was a peaceful trek for devotees who came into the area to say their prayers,” Ometer added.
