MALASIQUI, Pangasinan – Village officials of the third district of Pangasinan on Saturday thumbed up Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte’s advocacies should she get elected as vice president in the May 9 elections.

The consistent leader in all pre-election surveys is focused on job generation, quality education, and peace and order.

Sergio delos Santos, 25, a Sangguiang Kabataan president, agrees with Duterte’s priority platforms.

Napakaganda po ng adbokasiya ng ating susunod na Bise Presidente. Natututukan po ang mga pangangailangan ng ating mamamayan (The advocacies of our next Vice President is admirable. They are focused on the needs of the citizens),” he said in a sortie held here hosted by congressional aspirant Rachel Arenas.

Delos Santos said that Duterte’s plan to bring back the jobs lost at the height of the pandemic is the most immediate step that the country should take to ensure Filipinos can bounce back from the health menace which heavily weakened the economy.

As an Education graduate, Delos Santos said he felt proud upon hearing that Duterte is giving importance to the country’s education system.

“Kami po ay proud dahil hindi lamang tututukan ang mga kaguruan at sektor ng edukasyon, bagkus ang pangangailangan ng kabataan lalung-lalo na po ngayon, in this time of pandemic, talagang nakita natin yung kakulangan nguni’t pag siya ang nanalong Bise Presidente ay talagang matutugunan ang lahat ng pangangailangan (We are proud that she would not only focus on teachers and the education sector but the needs of the youth as well, especially amid the pandemic. If Sara is elected Vice President, she will be able to meet their needs),” he added in a news release.

One of those who waited for Duterte’s arrival was John Benedict Junio, 36, captain of Barangay Alinggan in Bayambang town.

Kung magiging Bise Presidente si Mayor Inday Sara, naniniwala ako sa mga plano niya kasi kung anong nagawa niya sa Davao, tiyak na magagawa niya sa buong Pilipinas (If Mayor Indar Sara becomes Vice President, I believe she will accomplish her plans because what she did for Davao, she can do for the entire country),” Junio said.

Arenas, also a former chair of the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board, said the nation shares Duterte’s goal of assuring equality and safety among Filipinos.

“’Yun talaga ang ating kagustuhan sa bawat lugar sa Pilipinas. Magkaroon ng pagkakaisa, katahimikan. Unity for everyone para mas mapadali, mas mapabilis ang progreso ng ating bayan (These are what most parts of the Philippines hope for. Unity, peace. Unity for everyone so we can hasten the progress of the country),” Arenas said.

Duterte and Arenas likewise visited San Carlos town, where they met another batch of officials and functionaries of District 3, which covers five towns and San Carlos City, or a total of 304 villages. (PR)
