President Marcos has approved the creation and upgrading of 20 offices of the Land Transportation Office (LTO) nationwide in a bid to expand all motor vehicle-related transactions of the national government.

LTO chief, Assistant Secretary Vigor D. Mendoza II made the announcement during the inauguration of the LTO-Binalonan District Office in Pangasinan, which served as a replacement when its district office in Urdaneta City closed down.

In his speech, Mendoza lauded and expressed gratitude to the local officials of Pangasinan for exerting the efforts to realize the project— from finding ways to find a good location, the donation of the land and up to the construction of the building.

“This is one of the best district offices that I visited. And the construction and the opening of this district office is timely because in the coming days, we have additional work to do which include the distribution of more license plates,” said Mendoza.

Mendoza said more LTO offices will be constructed and improved as President Marcos signed 20 legislative measures in relation to expanding and improving the LTO operations.

Mendoza said the new district offices will be constructed in Pototan, Iloilo; San Dionisio, Iloilo; Padre Garcia, Batangas; Nabua, Camarines Sur; and, Kalamansig, Sultan Kudarat.

On the other hand, the extension and satellite offices in these areas will be converted to district offices: Catanauan, Quezon; San Pascual, Batangas; Bug, Zamboanga Sibugay; San Miguel, Iloilo; Dolores, Eastern Samar; Pili, Camarines, Sur; Ilog, Negros Occidental; Rodriguez, Rizal; Naic, Cavite; and, San Jacinto in Ticao Island of Masbate.

The LTO District Office in Naga City will be upgraded to a Class A District Office while the District Office in Agoo, La Union will be upgraded from Class C to Class B.

Meanwhile, the district offices of Lamut in Ifugao; in Alaminos, Pangasinan; and in Mati, Davao Oriental will have an upgrade.

“The creation of new district offices will be a big boost to the efforts of the Marcos administration to lessen the time, effort and money of the LTO clients for any of their transactions with the agency,” said Mendoza.

“The upgrading of existing district offices promises to accommodate more clients and expedite the transactions for the increasing number of LTO clients,” he added.
